Living Life with GOD

Blog EntryAug 22, '10 11:09 AM
for everyone

I attended our department's post summer outing last Friday night and my co-writer has a built-in personal diary in her mobile as one her phone apps. I told her to demonstrate its use and while she's confidently doing it, I asked myself, "Is it still a must to have a personal diary these days?" I mean, we are living in the world of blogs, status updates and tweets, and every event is in public. Is it still relevant to own a personal diary in this modern times?

I used to have a diary when I was a kid. It was my bestfriend (besides Meng :-D), I wrote my diary a lot of secrets: my happy moments, my sad moments, my likes, my dislikes, my angst, my grade school crushes. I never brought it to school but kept it locked inside a cabinet. As an 11 year old girl, I used to be excited filling out those blank pages in my diary. I wrote things down with all my heart. Surely my diary knew me well.

Elementary days are gone. High School years are just good memories to remember. College life is truly over. Time flies so fast. I am now a young professional who makes the most of life in every way. Yes, I've got  a lot of photographs to look at when I reach 60 but what about the words to describe the moments that happened? I wish I have a photographic memory when I reach that age.

With all the social networking sites in this era, I think I still need a personal diary for there are just some things in my life that are worth writing about. I wanna keep those events of my life privately and pass it on to my children as an inspiration, inheritance and a precious treasure that only them can have .

yes you really have to.. posting in social networking sites can be risky, especially if the one you're referring to sees your post and keeps on asking you what is your post all about..

btw, long time no see! haha

I still believe in writing journals - offline of course - because it has so many benefits. For me, it helps me to reflect on what I did during the course of the day. It helps me to think more clearly regarding certain topics. It also helps me set goals and pushes me to be responsible and do what is right.

Just be careful what you post online because it will remain there forever unless a nuclear holocaust wipes out all the data centres in the world.

Thanks for the reminder kuya Romeo!
